Rooted Elegance: Senior Capstone Collection

Rooted Elegance is a representation of my two cultures- Indian and American/western. This is a merge of my Indian roots with western lifestyle, which has created a fashion line that celebrates both cultures. I have used traditional Indian fabrics with embroideries and embellishments to make western clothing or silhouettes. My fabrics are the star elements that offer a mixture of a soft and vibrant color palette, which was inspired from the bold hues found in Indian textiles. These fabrics radiate delicateness as well as boldness. There is a certain softness or delicateness seen in the traditional Indian embroidery and we can feel the work of those artists who made it. As delicate traditional embroidery can be, they can also help in making statement pieces or give a bold message. My pieces would be called Indo-Western wear that we see India’s youth wearing in festive occasions like weddings, Diwali parties, etc. It is very common and a new modern take on dressing up for a traditional event by the new generation, and this collection would relate and connect with the youth.
